very pleasant room overlooking the avon gorge with a great view of the brunel bridge, clean room, pleasant and helpful staff, good food, very enjoyable stay
I like a view of Clifton bridge from my bed room .. and night shift staff was so friendly and really helpful.
Just a car parking is so limited I cannot find one
Loved the hotel and its gorgeous views. We had a corner room which was large with windows that opened on two sides. It had a sofa so we could access our luggage since we were travelling in the uk for 14 days. We arrived by train and used taxis to and from the hotel. We went into town the first nite by walking and took the taxi back. A bit far to walk. The breakfast buffet was included with our room price and it was fantastic. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. We loved the huge deck and enjoyed drinking a pint and socializing with the locals. The only problem is the restaurants near the hoteI close early. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
We were very impressed with the friendly, efficient service we received throughout. Although obviously an old hotel, it functioned very well, including a very speedy lift! The food, generally, was pleasing. The location was excellent, not only because of the welcoming terrace, with wonderful viewsof the amazing Clifton Suspension Bridge and the surrounding area, but also as a good base for the Downs and accessing other interesting locations. We would definitely return here if we came back to Bristol.
These are only niggling points, but since you asked..No handtowels were provided in our bathroom, before asking for them. We find it is desirable to have flannels provide, too, as an option. Although the cooked breakfasts were very good, the provision of fruit was a disappointment. Other than that, everything was fine.
- Very nice and helpful staff - Nice and quiet room with nice view
It was lovely to relax we only stayed over night but it was good breakfast good to and we didnt need to be out of our room till 12 noon and it is 24 hour so we didnt need to rush to get they for a set time we hope to come back next year thanks may2011 stephen & carole
A most comfortable stay in an excellent location. Friendly staff and adequate ammenities. Only criticism was the service at breakfast - badly managed eg tables left uncleared, food replacement in self service slow, tea and toast portions inadequate.
Location, comfortv and cleanliness.
Hotel was in a perfect situation for us as we were visiting family in Clifton Bristol. The views across the Avon Gorge were also splendid especially at night.
We weren't impressed with the buffet breakfast as most items were warm rather than hot.It also amazed us that de-caff. coffee was not readily available in a hotel of this standing at breakfast. The staff did overcome this problem by using sachets normally found in the room.Parking was difficult unless you were lucky enough to find a space in the road outside the hotel.
The Location is excellent with views over the Avon Gorge and Brunel's suspension bridge.
Hotel restaurant dinner menu is quite limited, however the breakfast was first class!
Very friendly staff, view of clifton suspension bridge, good restaurant and comftable room.
Bathroom door would not shut and extractor not working.
Pleasant staff, comfortable room. Great location for visiting city and easy access to some good walking. Memorable views.
Breakfast pretty good, but it would be even better with choice of skimmed milk/ decaf tea/coffee etc.
Locality, staff & ambience
Its location and the nearby bus service into the City.
Poor parking facilities and no-one to help with luggage.
My wife and I enjoyed the great views of Avon Gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge from our bedroom and the hotel terrace.
The modified pull down bed was slightly uncomfortable and was not what i would have expected for the price we paid.
there was a bed in my room
No parking although free parking was advertised. Unhelpful staff. Uncomfortable bed. Temperature of room ridiculously hot. No breakfast until 8.
